Should there be a gap between my chin and the motocycle helmet?

I've just got an Airoh Dome C2 helmet for wearing when i'm on my bike. It's rather bulky, but the fit feels right. However between my mouth, let's say and the chin guard at the front I can fit a fist into the gap. Is this right?
